Brides, please stop tanning yourself orange right before your wedding day. We aren't in Hawaii or Southern California. It's Oregon and we haven't even seen the sun since last summer. Nobody's buying it and it doesn't go well with your super expensive gown.

- your friendly neighborhood wedding photographer.

OMG, I have to agree. I just came back from a wedding in Vegas, and the chic (I love her to death, I really do) got one of those spray tans....there is a photo of us and her face is sooooo orange. Poor thing. :\

I'm sure you can see what/who I'm talking about:

Yup, though that's actually not so bad. I've had a string of waaaay too tan brides this year, and not in an "I rock climb and run and windsurf and spend 23 hours a day outdoors" kind of way either. I wonder if they notice how strange it looks in their photos?

A few photographers really should get to gether and write a "no bullshit" wedding guide. Because the wedding guides that are out there are far too kind.

Nobody wants to hear from the photographer. I can't tell you how many times I've tried to talk to brides and explain why this or that is a piss poor idea and they never listen. What could I possibly know about how to look good on your wedding day? Fine, be a total frightwig or spill all out of that strapless gown or glow in the dark. See if I care.

heh heh...California wouldn't really suit me anymore. I grew up in Bakersfield and I've visited SF and LA a bunch. I like the cloudy and rainy up here.

And just say no to orange women.

I hate spray tan. WHY does anyone think that turning yourself into a pumpkin is sexy???

AMEN

A friend of mine, also a redhead, got married and did the spray tan thing. It's bad enough on people capable of tanning, but for those of us not blessed with melanin it's just atrocious. Her skin looked to be just a few shades lighter than her hair. I hope she got black & white photos.

I was beginning to wonder if I was crazy. It's nice to know I'm not the only one who doesn't understand. I used to think "why doesn't someone tell these girls it looks goofy" but now I know better. That's just asking for trouble. ;)
